3/1/80 City Council minutes: Arrangements made with Hannibal Water Company to install 75 new fire hydrants for fire protection only.
4/19/80 City Council minutes: Fire engine "Archer" is sold. Fire engine "Hannibal" kept for emergency. The hand carts have been sold. City purchases two horse carriages with 1000' of hose on each. Two of the horses are to be used by the Street Department.
5/10/80 City Council minutes: Hutchinson of Hannibal was given a contract for $400 to build a new horse drawn fire carriage, provided it will be similar to the Chicago fire carriage plan. The fire bell was moved from the park and set up at the engine house.
7/5/80 City Council minutes: 4th & 5th Wards granted hand carts for hose if they will organize volunteer company.
