| The Hannibal Fire Department is dedicated to providing the best emergency service possible. One element it uses to accomplish this mission is constant training. The beginning of this year has proven to be a good example of this. In order to remain proficient and improve performance, HFD fire fighters must continually be trained and educated on each of the diverse services they provide for the community. In January, members of each shift completed training that included the HAZMAT ID 360 equipment and Material Safety Data Sheets, as well as a three day class on emergency medicine. February contained apparatus driver training and classes on structural fire fighting techniques, fire ground tactics and strategies, fire service hydraulics, airway management, foam operations, street familiarization, and the Sunshine Law. This month, classes on HAZMAT, fire apparatus operations, and business inspections have been completed with more scheduled. (March 2013) |
